Nanolithography using STM

STM can be used to modify surfaces at nano level. By applying high voltage pulses of varying magnitude and width, structrures can be created. By programming the tip to move in a pre-determined fashion, one can also "write" on the surface. In this image the letters "STM" have been written in an area of 250 A x 250 A.
